Gah. Finally got this game! Squeenix delayed it several times (it was meant to come out some time in 2008), but it's here at last.
The only thing I would complain about is the dreaded Xion. She is a sue, and really, it's no surprise.
That much aside, getting to know the Organization XIII is.. wonderful, really. Vexen is snarky, Zexion actually talks, Demyx is an underachiever, Lexaeus smacks Roxas in the
face, and Larxene is such a jerk, I love her. ;A;
Also, Demyx calls Xigbar, Xiggy. It's adorable.

Unfortunately, half of the Organization gets killed off before you can really see much of them. *sigh* Thanks, Square. Now we have to focus on the main characters.
Overall, the game pretty much revolves around missions and Roxas eating ice cream. Roxas eating ice cream alone. Roxas eating ice cream with Axel. Roxas eating ice cream with Xion.
It makes me feel kind of stomach-achey watching him eat it all.
Also, most of the conversation looks like this:
Xion: I'm useless without the keyblade.
Roxas: Oh no, Axel, is there anything you can do?
Axel: Afraid not.
Xion:They'll turn me into a dusk if they don't need me.
Roxas: Oh no, Axel, is there anything you can do?
Axel: Really no.
Oivey. I feel bad for Axel, really. Roxas is not as bright as I hoped.
Oh. And Riku.

We can't forget Riku. He hasn't got a huge role in the game, but he's nonetheless there, and he's got some pretty
heart-wrenching memorable lines.
Gameplay is pretty standard KH. You've got limit breaks instead of Drive Forms, and there's a lot of button mashing. It's pretty entertaining, though gamers who get bored easily might get tired of the sheer repetitive nature of the game play and the missions. Quality > Quantity plz, Squeenix.
There's also a startling lack of interesting
in-game videos. FFIII/FFIV have gorgeous CGI openings, so I was surprised to find that 358/2 Days doesn't. There's a combination of clips from KH/KHII/CoM, but not very much that's new and no CGI whatsoever. Most of the in-game vids are ice cream/sunset scenes, and trust me, you'll be skipping those like I do after you see about twenty of them.
There's also a
panel system for equipping things such as magic, abilities, equipment, and levels. You get used to this pretty quickly, and it works well, other than the fact that you have to equip your levels(!?). Once you level up, you get a LVL panel, and you'll need to equip it before you actually level up. There's no real point to it, it's frustrating, but fortunately, it's the only real downside to this system.
As a whole, it's a half-decent game, with its perks and its cons. To KH fans... it's probably a bit of a disappointment.
Personally, I'd say it's worth getting and playing for the sake of getting to see the Organization member's personalities, getting to play
as them in Mission Mode, for the unlockable characters, and for the familiar gameplay.
So do get it, KH fans and others alike.
Watching Axel mancrush over Roxas is only half the fun.
